The dramatic question theatre’s vision of the future of American theater is one in which the population of professionally produced playwrights is as diverse as the population of the United States.
Despite being nearly 70% of the city’s population, only 19% of the plays professionally produced in NYC were by BIPoC playwrights.
Despite women being more than half the country’s population, plays by men receive more productions, both in NYC and across the country.
By developing and presenting plays by Women and BIPoC, the dramatic question theatre will serve as a pipeline to theatres in NYC and across the U.S. who are in authentic allyship.
