Josleen Wilson
Josleen began her career in advertising and like many creatives she had a book in her desk drawer. It turned out she had 25+ nonfiction books illuminating contemporary issues in American life. Many broke new ground: Woman: Your Body, Your Health was the first fully illustrated, four-color book on women’s health; and Good Health for African Americans, among the first nonfiction books written for African American audiences, was a publishing landmark.
Book reviewers consistently recognize her work for its comprehensive sweep and lucid style. Several of her books have been published around the world and recorded for the blind by the National Library of Congress. Her magazine credentials include cover stories in Woman’s Day, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and other national publications.
Josleen’s enduring passion is helping young girls from underserved public junior and high schools to develop their writing talents (Harlem RBI, now part of the Dream School network, and Girls Write Now, the first and only writing/mentoring organization for high-need girls of all colors and gender definitions.
