PlayTime

PlayTime (PT) is a new play development and presentation program that centralizes Female-identifying or BIPoC playwrights with early drafts of plays.

This program is for playwrights who already have a full draft of their play.

PT participants are chosen after a considered process informed by DQT’s core values of equity, community, good faith, and artistry.

This new play development program will once again be led by OBIE Award winner Carmen Rivera, who brings to this role years of experience teaching playwriting as both a teaching artist with Manhattan Theatre Club and as an instructor at The New School.

Plays developed in this program include:

  • Madeline Barr’s Recurring (PT 2023, subsequently presented by the LAByrinth Theatre Company at 59E59 Theatres in March 2025)

The goal of PlayTime is to facilitate growth for both the play and the playwright.
